Souths Logan Magpies continued their unbeaten run in the 2025 BMD Premiership with a strong 26-4 victory over the Burleigh Bears at UAA Park on Saturday afternoon. Played in wet and testing conditions, the Magpies adapted early and dominated the first half, controlling possession and territory to take a commanding 20-0 lead into the break.
The second half began much the same, with Souths crossing for the first points after the restart to push the lead out even further. Burleigh eventually responded with their only try of the match, getting on the scoreboard with four points. However, both teams struggled to maintain attacking pressure in the final stages, with errors and fatigue setting in as the wet weather took its toll.
Despite a quieter second half, Souths had done enough in the opening 40 minutes to secure back to back wins to start their season. The 26-4 result keeps the Magpies on top of the ladder ahead of a blockbuster Round 3 clash this weekend.
It’s first vs second as Souths travel to Bishop Park to take on the in form Norths Devils. Kick off is scheduled for 12:50pm in what promises to be a thrilling contest between two early-season front runners.
