The Tilermade Souths Logan Magpies returned home to Davies Park this Sunday to take on the Townsville Blackhawks in Round 14.
Souths had their work cut out for them from the kick off with Blackhawks getting 4 points on the board just four minutes into the game. Souths shortly answered back with Jack Smith getting through on the wing in a show of quick hands from the team.
Magpies had to pull together for the remainder of the first half to put on a strong defence to keep the formidable Blackhawks out however, Townsville's attack was too strong and we conceded three more tries heading into half time trailing 4-20.
Souths had some new found energy in the second half, showing a more cohesive team on field. A short kick from Albert Kelly chased down by Denzel Samoa saw Souths shorten Townsville's lead in the final 25 minutes after dropping to 12 players following a send off.
Blake Mozer was next over the line giving Souths some hope but Blackhawks proved too strong and walked away victorious with a 14-26 win over Souths.
Hostplus Cup Coach Karmichael Hunt identified definite areas for improvement this week before heading into the weekend's clash with Norths Devils in the XXXX Rivalry Round.
This Sunday also marks Souths Logan Magpies annual Old Boys Day, gates open at 10:30AM with a Nev Blair Shield game kicking off the days entertainment.
