Souths finish their season at home

Sunday's clash with the Ipswich Jets marked the end of Souths season finishing just outside the top 8.

The atmosphere at Davies Park was electric as friends and family watched on to celebrate Captain Rory Ferguson reaching 100 games for the Magpies and the final game of dual code great Joe Tomane.

Souths faced a formidable Ipswich side with a number of Titans affiliate players. Magpies Tyler Coburn got himself across the line in the first try of the game however, the Jets answered back in quick succession to bring the half time score to 4-8 to Ipswich.

Jets put on a dominating display in the first half and unfortunately Souths were unable to come back in the final 40 minutes, conceding the game 24-16. Whilst it was a disappointing way to end the 2024 season, the club is proud of the effort the boys put in this year.

Despite being plagued with injuries throughout the season, the team showed immense grit and determination, often playing with a depleted roster. Their ability to compete under such challenging circumstances is a testament to their character and commitment. As we reflect on the year, we look forward to coming back stronger and more united in the next season.
