Magpies stunned the top 5 team in a thrilling 80 minutes, walking away victorious with a 42-18 win over the Sunshine Coast Falcons.
Falcons came out of the gates strong putting 12 points on the board in the first 10 minutes of the game including a statement choice for a penalty kick only 10 minutes into the round four clash.
With a quick interchange brining Callum Eggerling into play, the Magpies had come alive putting Kienan Tempest over the line for his 8th Hostplus Cup career try successfully converted by Latrell Siegwalt.
This sparked a Magpies comeback, as they surged to a 12-point lead with 30 minutes remaining in the second half. Their momentum continued when Broncos Affiliate player Coby Black crossed for a stunning 60-metre try, set up by a pinpoint cut-out pass from Anthony Milford and sharp footwork from Israel Leota down the right edge.
After the game we asked Hostplus Cup Captain Rory Ferguson how he felt about the teams' performance, he said, "I thought we played pretty well. Sticking to our game plan and running hard.
We are still not quite where we need to be but we are going in the right direction. We are only gonna build from here.
It is extremely exciting the talent we have in this team as well. When we do fully unlock it we are gonna be hard to stop."
This weekend the team will head east to take on the Wynnum Manly Seagulls at Kougari Oval in the first installment of the Mitch Cronin Cup for 2025.
This game holds special significance for both teams as they fight to honour Mitch's legacy. Magpies are yet to lose the Cup and will be striving to keep the momentum this Sunday at 3:00pm.
