The Magpies are excited to announce that long-time coach Lincoln McLeod will step up as head coach for the 2025 Mal Meninga Cup team. With years of experience at the club and a passion for developing young players, McLeod’s leadership is set to be a driving force for the team next season. His deep understanding of the game and commitment to fostering emerging talent make him a natural fit for the role.
Linc has a long history with the club dating back to the 80s when he donned the Black & White as a player before beginning his journey as a coach. His coaching experience now spans over 20 years with an emphasis on developing young players including assisting Souths' Head of Football Mark Beaumont in our successful Junior Pathways Program.
Linc has expressed his excitement for the year ahead, as he takes on this new role.
"It is always a privilege to coach any team that wears the black & white jersey. It is something I am genuinely grateful for and excited about. We have a lot of talent in our catchment and I cannot wait to work alongside the boys & support them to be the best they can be. Both as individuals and collectively as a team," Linc said.
After leading the Cyril Connell Cup team this year, Linc will have the chance to continue his coaching journey with many of the same players as they progress into our Mal Meninga squad for 2025. This continuity offers a unique opportunity to build on the foundations already set and strengthen the team dynamic as they face new challenges in the upcoming season.
Looking ahead, the club is confident that under Linc's guidance, the team will continue to develop both on and off the field. With a strong foundation already in place and a shared vision for success, the 2025 season promises to be an exciting chapter for the players and coaching staff alike.
