Saturday February 1st the formidable 1985 Premiership winning team reunited at Souths Leagues Club to reminisce on their glorious win over the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls.
Complete with Kangaroos Coach Mal Meninga and NRL Super Coach Wayne Bennett, the entire 1985 team joined us in the room, with the exception of the late Peter Jackson, who was lovingly represented by his wife and children.
Alongside the team, our Hostplus Cup squad joined us to kick off the 2025 season in style and gain a deeper appreciation of the club’s rich history.
Grand Final captain Norm Carr, Player of the Match John Elias, and legendary coach Wayne Bennett shared incredible stories of the team’s unforgettable journey - recalling the larger-than-life characters, the relentless determination, and the sheer grit that led to their hard-fought 8–10 victory.
The event provided inspiration for the current team to aspire towards a Premiership and put their name amongst Rugby League Greats such as those amongst them in the room.
