The Magpies finally got the win that has been building over the weeks, and did it in style, running out convincing 32-8 winners in a performance that had everything this team has been building towards.
The start couldn't have gone much better. Kiarah Siauane crossed inside the first two minutes to open the scoring, and Chante Bates followed up soon after to make it 8-0. Siauane grabbed her second in the 13th minute to push the lead to 12-0 before the Falcons hit back through Delilah Crighton to get on the board at 12-4. The Magpies kept their foot down from there, Keira Rangi crossing in the 29th minute and Skyla Adams' boot finding its range to make it 18-4, a lead the Magpies took into the sheds at the break.
The second half was all Magpies. Amanii Misa crossed early to extend the margin to 22-4, then Adams' conversion made it 24-4. Chante Bates grabbed her second of the afternoon to push it out to 28-4, and although the Falcons snuck one back through Larissa Crummer to make it 28-8, Te Rina Pearse put the exclamation mark on it late, crossing in the 59th minute to bring up the 32-8 final score.
A dominant, complete performance from start to finish. Every part of the team clicked today, attack, defence, discipline, and the scoreboard reflected it. This is the standard this group is capable of, and hopefully more to come. The girls are off to two weeks of BYE’s but return in a home game on August 9th.
