Milford Returns To Where It All Began

Magpies Pathways player Anthony Milford returns to where it all began.

After a 12 year stint in the NRL, playing over 200 games for the Raiders, Broncos, Knights and Dolphins, Milford will don the Black & White in 2025. After representing Souths in the Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cups from 2008 to 2011, he transitioned to Canberra after graduating from St Peter Claver College. This phase of his career will hold special meaning thanks to his connection with the club.

Hostplus Cup Head Coach Karmichael Hunt is looking forward to adding Milford's experience to his spine for the 2025 campaign. "We're very lucky to have someone of Anthony's calibre sign with us here at the Magpies. Having him in and amongst some of our younger players will be invaluable to my squad. His journey is not too dissimilar from mine and how i transitioned my career in 2021, I'm looking forward to mentoring him over the next couple of years," Hunt said.

Milford will become a key playmaker, helping the development of some young spine members in Coby Black, Latrell Siegwalt, Byron Johnson, and Floyd Aubrey to mention a few. While playing a key role on the field, he will also work within the Magpies' pathways team, assisting our elite player development program, coaching 13-16 year olds from within our catchment.

Milford described his decision to sign with Souths as one that "felt right." When asked about the move, he had the following to say. "It's a full circle moment for me. Right now I believe this decision feels right for my little family and I.

"I'm grateful for Wayne and the Dolphins for the past two years and I wish Woolfy and the boys nothing but the best for season 25.

"I'm excited to play under K and I can't wait to get to work with the team," he said.

Milford will begin training with our Hostplus Cup squad in the New Year before trials start in mid February. Our Round 1 fixture against the Western Clydesdales at Marsden State High takes place on the 8th of March. Season 2025 is shaping up as one not to be missed.
