Since the very first time he walked in the door in 2009, he quickly became one of the best players within the club. With his strength and mobility, he was quickly noticed by the opposition as a force to be reckoned with.
Over the years his facial hair may have come and gone (and come again), and his signature mustache entertained commentators and spectators alike, but AJ’s character has always remained the same; a great bloke, a team player and an all-round good guy.
Jim McClelland, Club CEO had this to say about AJ Edwards;
“He is a pest, he is somewhat annoying, but he always turns up and gives his best to the jumper and the team that it represents. Over many years, we have had some great players, none of which have given anymore to the club than AJ does every week.”
He has grown in stature year by year to become a valuable member of the team and a team leader.
The club is lucky that Andrew Edwards calls the Magpies home, and we hope to get another 100 games out of him in the coming years.
Happy 100 games for the Mighty Magpies, you’re truly one of the Magpie’s best.
