Round 4 Holcim Cup Preview

A Sunday afternoon road trip back down the M1 to face the competitions stand out team to date in their own backyard is the battle the Magpies girls are facing in Round 4 of the Holcim Cup, in what will be a battle of the superstars in both outfits.

The Magpies are coming off two physically demanding halves of football against WB Panthers and Tweed Heads last weekend and will be looking to start fast against the Bears outfit which chalked up 30 points against Easts Tigers in their Round 3 drumming.

Souths will be forced to make a few personal changes this week with Jamie-Lee Lewis showing her versatility she has to offer by starting on the right wing after missing last week due to suspension.

The halves combination of Nakita Sao and Ali Brigginshaw will get another opportunity to jell together, after the pair played together in the 6 & 7 jersey for the first time last week and will be vital controlling and steering the athletic forward pack around for Souths Logan.

Burleigh will be lead by superstar #9 Brittany Breayley, who was superb last week for the Gold Coast outfit with her devastation around the ruck and will be putting the Souths Logan defenders on notice with plenty of class out of acting half.

The challenge of a red hot Bears outfit is one that excites Coach Rob Brough and his troops to be able to test themselves against the form team in the Holcim Cup:
“I think most would agree that Burleigh have been cruising through this comp and that on Sunday they’ll take their game to another level and the question is for us do we have the ability to match them for 60 minutes”

Kickoff for the clash will be at 4:45pm at Pizzey Park and we would love to see as many Magpies fans down as possible!
