The weekend saw us return home to take on the Townsville Blackhawks. Every game we play at the moment seems like it has a lot riding on it and this game was no exception.
To come away with a 30-12 victory was an outstanding result and an important one in the context of our season.
After a scratchy start, which saw us concede a try in the opening set, the players went about putting in the best performance I’ve been involved with in my time at the club. The highlight was our goal line defence. Townsville seemed to be camped on our try line in the first half and time and time again we turned them away. It was special to watch.
The win takes us to equal 6th position, 7th on for and against, and maintains the great momentum we’ve been building over the past 2 months.
An interesting fact and one that adds even more merit to the victory, is that the 18 point margin was the biggest loss Townsville has suffered in their history.
Finally, I would like to thank all the supporters who came out to the game. It was the best home crowd we’ve had all year and I know the players appreciate the support and get a lift when they see so many supporters around the ground. And I would like to think that everyone who attended the game will be back again, based on the performance they witnessed from the boys.
