On Wednesday the 28th of June, we held our annual NRL, Broncos and Souths Logan Magpies holiday clinic, at Logan Brothers RLFC.

207 boys and girls were in attendance. A great day was had, with lots of fun and skills shown by everyone.

Big thanks to Broncos players Anthony Milford, Joe Boyce & Corey Allan for their time and for signing autographs for the kids.

This day wouldn’t have run as smoothly if it wasn’t for the NRL development officers and all the staff of mine that helped make the day enjoyable.

Also thank go to Logan Brothers for the use of the club and fields and to McDonalds for supplying water bottles and vouchers for all the kids.

Marsden High Gala Day

A very successful Primary School Gala Day was held this week in a joint initiative between Souths Logan Magpies, the NRL and Marsden High School, who hosted the day.

220 local school students participated in the event, which offered many of the children their first opportunity to get involved in organised Rugby League

20 teams from 11 schools in the nearby Logan area participated in a knockout competition, which focused on fun for late primary aged (grades 4,5 & 6) children.

Souths Logan Magpies Development Officer Mark Beaumont said “it was a great day of rugby league, held in great weather and spirit”.

In-keeping with the welcoming environment of the day lunch and fruit was supplied by Souths Logan Magpies to ensure all participants were well looked after.

“Thanks very much to Marsden High for once again hosting the event, and to our sponsors and the NRL for their support of these initiatives”.

“We look forward to seeing many of these young children, who enjoyed the experience, hopefully participating in rugby league somewhere in the Logan corridor very soon”, Mark Beaumont said.

Logan Brothers Juniors Get the Nod for Origin

Logan Brothers Juniors Get the Nod for Origin

By Ben MacFie

Logan Brothers Rugby League Club was the setting for a special announcement this week.

And fittingly, it was the club’s most decorated player – record-breaking Queensland Maroons skipper Cameron Smith – who was on hand to deliver the big news to the excited group of Under 10 players.

Standing on the very turf he played on more than two decades ago, Smith took great delight in informing the players of their selection to represent Queensland in the 2017 Holden Junior State of Origin at Suncorp Stadium.

Souths Logan Magpies CEO Jim McClelland said the honour bestowed on these young players is a credit to Logan Brothers and indeed the city of Logan, which continues to be a nursery for some of the games most talented players.

Thanks to this wonderful initiative by Holden, these talented juniors are now gearing up to play against Dave Klemmer’s junior NSW club at half-time of the May 31 Origin opener.
