The week that was…
Round 12 was another great afternoon for the Magpies. It’s always difficult to go across to Langland’s Park and come away with a result, so it was especially pleasing to win both Colts and the Intrust Super Cup. Sundays win was our 8th from 12 games, placing us in a very strong position, as we move into the second half of the competition. At this stage we have used 27 players in our ISC, with 12 of those players coming from our Junior Development system.
Congratulations to Rhys Melville who debuted in the front row against Easts. Rhys and his family have been through some hard times over the last 12 months, so it was great to see Jon give him the opportunity to play first grade with the Magpies. He didn’t let anyone down and certainly wasn’t overawed by the occasion.
I’m sure everyone is as excited as I am to see one of our best juniors debut Wednesday night for QLD in Anthony Milford. We always knew he was going to be a special player from a very young age and the pleasing thing with Anthony, his status in the game hasn’t changed him in any way.
Congratulations also to another one of our juniors who debuted for the Broncos last Saturday night against the warriors, in George Fai. George is still in the very early stages of his progression with the Broncos and we are sure that he will play many more first grade games throughout his career.
As I said last week, the players really appreciate the support we have been getting to our home games, so your support this weekend, will really lift the boys as we take on the reigning premiers, the Burleigh Bears, and hopefully chalk up our 9th win of the season.
