A standout four try and 2 try assist game from Souths Logan Magpies fullback Tamika Upton was the highlight of a flawless 60 mins from the Black and White in a 44-4 drumming of Easts Tigers during Round 2 of the Holcim Cup.

Souths Logan who bolstered by the return of their captain Annette Brander, got out of the blocks quickly through a lovely chain of attacking play out wide which saw River Smalley cross for the first points of the afternoon.

Easts quickly hit back with some individual brilliance from their Fullback Keisha-Lee Coolwell who beat multiple Souths defenders and crossed to bring the score back to 6-4 in the 12th minute.

From there it was one way traffic for Souths Logan with the Magpies domination of the middle through a highly impressive forward pack led by Steph Hancock and Elsie Albert, who regularly carried the ball 10 or more metres to get the Magpies attack on the front foot.

Upton crossed twice again before the halftime bell rang in two fantastic solo efforts, with the fullback attacking out the back of shape to trouble the right edge of the Tigers defense.

The Magpies onslaught continued after the break with Elsie Albert scoring yet another long range effort after running over a few Easts Tigers defenders on her way to the line to take the lead out to 16 points.

The Magpies outside backs were in an around the football all day showing fantastic work rate and this was on display when Hayley Maddick got on the end of a Steph Hancock kick and collect which brought Albert Bishop Park to their feet in a piece of magic from the Souths stalwart.

Tamika Upton crossed twice more to take her tally for the afternoon to four right on full time to take the Magpies lead out to 44-4 and stamp their authority on the competition as a front runner.

The Maggies will welcome back club legend Ali Brigginshaw to the Black and White after a hiatus for Round 3 of the Holcim Cup where the Magpies will travel down to Burleigh with the draw TBA.
