Match Review from the Nest l  Round 11

Josh Hannay

The weekend saw us drive up the coast to take on the Sunshine Coast Falcons. The game ended in a 16 all draw with Scott Doyle calmly slotting a penalty goal on full time to level the scores.

The game itself was a very hard fought affair, with neither side giving an inch. Points were hard to come by all day with both sides defending extremely well. In what was a back and forth affair, we were able to hit the front with 15 minutes to go through a try to Joe Boyce only to let it slip with 7 minutes left on the clock. To come away with a draw was probably a fair result for both sides.

While we would’ve loved to walk away with 2 points, to come away with 1 point is a lot better than coming away with nothing. The Falcons are a quality outfit this year and a particularly hard proposition at home, so to get at least a point from the game is a very good effort from our guys.

This week will see us on the road again heading up to Cairns to take on the Northern Pride. The Pride again are a quality outfit and we will need to play well if we want to give ourselves any chance of winning.

We’re finally starting to build some momentum and play with some consistency, so I’m confident if we can continue to improve, we will give ourselves a good chance of winning.
