A sea of red filled Davies Park on Sunday 13th September when, 412 gathered to ‘Walk for a Cure’ and ‘Raise awareness of Kidney Disease’ at the Kidney Health Australia 2015 Research Walk.

Local West End businesses really got behind the event this year and donated prizes, raised funds and attended our event. The South Leagues Club for hosted the site, whilst The Brisbane Hellenic Lions Club ran a successful BBQ and helped promote the event to the local business community. Special guest speakers such as Labour Candidate of The GABBA Nicole Lessio, welcomed members to West End and shared her family’s story about Kidney Disease. Professor Jeff Coombes, The University of Queensland and Kidney Health Australia Medical Funding Grant recipient, shared his research on the benefits of exercise in our Chronic Kidney Disease community to our participants. The day started with a fun filled Zumba warm up and followed a 2.5km or 5km walk and post event activities for the entire family.
