Our Colts boys took their home game to Civic Park, Logan Brothers with the QCup playing in Miriam Vale this weekend. It’s always good to get down and support our junior clubs throughout the year and as always Logan welcomed us and Sunshine Coast with open arms.

After a poor effort against Burleigh the week before our coach Steven Bretherton was looking for a much improved showing from his young charges in round 2 and sure did he get that!! Unfortunate to go down 22-24 to a Sunshine Coast side who for the past 4 years has featured in finals football in the under 20’s.

Talking with Steve after the game he said “I’m really happy with our 2nd half effort tonight, at 24-6 just minutes into the 2nd half, we could have turned our toes up and had another hefty score put on us”. It was instead the complete opposite for our boys, they dug deep and found something the group has been searching for. “We had our chances to win it in the final 5 minutes, unfortunately we just couldn’t quite crack them” said Steve. “All week our focus was energy, effort, aggression. I got that in spades tonight, I’m really happy”.

The bye comes at a terrible time with our boys starting to get some momentum with continuous footy, I’m sure they’ll be ready to go face the so far undefeated Wynuum at BMD Kougari Oval on Sunday 29 March in Round 4.

Make sure you get on down early to watch what promises to be a cracking game of Rugby League.
